A healthier peanut butter swirls brownie recipe that is vegan and gluten free. Super fudgy and rich whilst secretly healthy.
I love fudgy brownies and I am always dreaming of ways to reinvent them. Today I am bringing two of my favourite ingredients together…. Chocolate and peanut butter!
The finished product was amazing! Fudgy, chocolatey, totally indulgent and satisfying! The best part is these fudgy peanut butter swirl brownies recipe is vegan, gluten free and contain only natural, clean ingredients.

Each brownie is amazingly moreish, due to the addition of peanut butter which prevent this dish being too sickly sweet. I used all natural peanut butter, which is a great source of fibre, potassium and healthy fats.

Ingredients For Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies
You need the following basic ingredients to make this peanut butter brownie recipe
- almond milk – any milk will work
- coconut oil – can use melted butter or vegetable oil
- buckwheat flour
- cocoa powder
- salt
- coconut sugar – can sub for brown sugar or any other granulated sugar
- peanut butter – Any kind of peanut butter will work, I use creamy peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter will also work
- maple syrup – can sub for agave or honey
Optional Add ins-
Vanilla – add 1 tsp of vanilla extract
Peanut butter chips – add a handful of peanut butter chips for extra peanut butter flavor
Chocolate – add a small handful of semisweet chocolate chips or good quality chocolate for extra indulgence
How to Make Peanut Butter Brownies Recipe
Here’s how to make these peanut butter swirl cakey brownies. Full recipe details in the recipe card at the end of this post.
- Pre heat oven to 170c.
- Prepare a brownie pan with parchment paper or cooking spray and set aside
- Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large bowl
- In a separate medium bowl mix together the wet ingredients
- Pour wet into the dry mixture and stir until combined.
- Pour pour brownie batter into a prepared pan
- Mix together the peanut butter swirl ingredients until combined
- Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture on top of the brownie batter then swirl with a butter knife or the back of a wooden spoon to create a swirl of peanut butter
- Cook for 14-17 minutes and leave to completely cool
- Once cooled slice with a sharp knife and enjoy.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature

Ingredients
For the brownies
- 1 cup + 2 tbsp milk of choice
- 1/2 cup + 3 tbsp coconut oil melted
- 1 gf flour I used buckwheat
- 1 cup unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup coconut sugar
For the peanut butter swirl
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp almond milk
Instructions
Pre heat oven to 170c.
Prepare a brownie pan with parchment paper and set aside

In a separate medium bowl mix together the wet ingredients
Pour wet into the dry mixture and stir until combined.
Pour this into a prepared pan
Mix together the peanut butter swirl ingredients until combined
Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture on top of the batter then swirl with a butter knife or the back of a wooden spoon.
Cook for 14-17 minutes. If you prefer a gooey brownie then bake a few minutes less. Leave to completely cool
Once cooled slice with a sharp knife and enjoy.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature
