The couple was married July 21, 1940 in La Harpe, IL. They have 7 children: Sandra Harp, Aurora, CO; Larry Brighton, MI; Delmar Jacob, Stronghurst; Eleanor Sally Wisslead, Fisher, Lomax; Char Fisher. Stronghurst; Ann Raritan and Olive Ford, Lomax. They also have 19 grandchildren (20 come January). and relatives are invited to come celebrate with Friends them.

They couple request that gifts be omitted. Fiddle And Banjo Contest At State Fair More than $1,600 in prize monies will be awarded in the Fiddle and Banjo Contest at the 1990 Illinois State "Super Fair." On Saturday, Aug. 11, at 1 p.m., Lincoln Stage will be home to the hoedowns and waltzes. The Banjo Contest is open to all ages. The Fiddle Contest, because of the instrument's popularity, has been divided into three age groups: 16 years and under, 17 years and under 60, 60 years and older.

Individuals of all ages will be judged on their rhythm, timing, creativity, authenticity, taste, expression and execution as they play two tunes of their choice. Music choices must include one hoedown and one waltz. However, in the fiddle contest, these choices may not include "Black Mountain "Orange Blossom Special" and Listen to the Mockingbird." Mike and Pamela Day Jr. of Media became the parents of a son' at 12:13 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 1990.

They have named their son Robert Christopher. Robert weighed in at seven pounds, six ounces and was nineteen inches long at birth. He was born at Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa. Maternal grandparents are Robert and Sharon Curtiss of Biggsville. "Mike and Sally Day of rural Stronghurst and Gloria Peterson of Fort Madison, Iowa are the paternal grandparents.

Maternal greatgrandmothers are Adelia Nelson and Lillian Owen, both of Burlington, Iowa. Paternal greatgrandparents include Jean Day of Media, Roy and Peg Carnes of Carman and John and Hannah McNeil of Wheaton. Blanche Burrell of Burlington, Iowa is the paternal great-great-grandmother. Also welcoming home "R.C." is his maternal aunt and uncle, Jill and Brian Stevenson of Gladstone. Pamela was previously employed at Country Fun in Biggsville and Mike is employed by Twomey Company in Media.

Shelby Sue Arrives! Todd and Mindi Bartlett of rural Dallas City became the parents of a daughter, their first child, at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 1990. The Bartletts named their daughter Shelby Sue. Shelby was born at Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa, weighing six pounds, twelve ounces and was nineteen and one-half inches long at birth. Paternal grandparents are Jack and Sue Bartlett of rural Dallas City.

Shelby's maternal grandparents are Mike and Sally Day of rural Stronghurst and Bill and Yvonne McGowen of Norcross, Georgia. Francis and Floyd Burkhart of La Harpe and Lucille Walker of Lomax are the paternal great-grandparents. Maternal greatgrandparents include Jean Day of Media, John and Hannah McNeil, and Dorothy McGowen, all of Wheaton, and Bill and Betty McGowen of Sun City, Arizona. Mindi, a 1984 graduate of Northwestern High School and a 1987 graduate of Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa, is employed as an R.N. in the OB Department of Burlington Medical Center.

Todd, a 1983 graduate of La Harpe High School and a 1987 graduate of Monmouth Col-1 lege is engaged in farming with his father. Board Meeting Notice The Board of Directors of West Central Illinois Legal Assistance will have its next meeting on Thursday, July 19, 1990. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. This little girl Lindsay McSparen just turned 6 years old on June 6th and she and her family celebrated by going to Happy Joe's with her family and neighbor who also shares her birthday, and also picnic lunch and cake at by a Lake Argyle State Park, with her family of 2 sisters and 1 brother and her grandmother, Norma McSparen. She is the daughter of Gary and Gail McSparen Lomax.

Arnold L. Olson Mr. Arnold L. Olson age 6 69 of Dallas City, Illinois, died at 9:01 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 1990 in the Burlington Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa.

He was born February 15, 1921 in Dallas City, Illinois the son of Frank and Rose (Betron) Olson. He married Maxine Coover on December 21, 1940 in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death November 25, 1989. He farmed near Dallas City and later near Raritan, I- linois until 1961. He then worked for J.I.

Case Co. in Burlington, Iowa for 21 years retiring in 1982. Mr. Olson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robin Hartley of Dallas City, three sons Jimmy Olson of La Harpe, IL, Bill Olson of Disco, IL, and Dennis Olson of Brandon, Florida, eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, 2 brothers Andy and Gary Olson, both of Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 1990 in the Grace Bible Church of Dallas City, IL, with Rev. Larry Van Gundy officiating. Burial will be in the La Harpe Cemetery, La Harpe, Illinois. Friends may call beginning at noon on Wednesday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m.
